Nokia 5310 iSync plugin

I bought a nokia 5310 XpressMusic, unfortunately it was not possible to synchronize it with my mac.

On the internet this comment based on this article helped me to create my own plugin, it is working for me under Leopard with iSync 3.0.

You can download it freely and give me your feedback if I missed something.

Nokia 5310 isync plugin

to install unzip the archive and copy the plugin to

/Applications/iSync.app/Contents/PlugIns/ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice/Contents/PlugIns

you need to adjust the plugin’s rights and owner like the others in the directory.

Update:

Thanks to Chimgan: the easiest way is to extract zip contents to:

/Library/PhonePlugins/

salut Cedric,

Merci pour le zip, par contre comment connectes tu le tel, par bluetooth ou par le cable fournis ? Pour moi isync (leopard inside) voit le tel mais refuse de l'utiliser. as tu fais autre chose en plus du zip.

Merci pout ton aide.

A+

Hi Cedric,

on my Mac with Leopard installed I do not find where the folders are that you have indicated above
/Applications/iSync.app/Contents/PlugIns/ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice/Contents/PlugIns
Happy New Year and best wishes
            Enzo

@gars: I've added the rights adjustment in the explanation, thanks!

@enzo: go in your Applications folder, then right-click on iSync application and 'show content' then you'll have the directories

Happy new year!

Did place the plugin in the folder but I don't understand what you mean by "you need to adjust the plugin’s rights and owner like the others in the directory." Please step by step instruction? I'm a technologically challenge person. Thx

Hi Jay,

After you have copied the file you can open a terminal, and type:

cd /Applications/iSync.app/Contents/PlugIns/ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice/Contents/PlugIns

you will be in the directory where all the isync plugin are stored and to set the correct permissions type:

sudo chown -R root:admin Nokia-5310.phoneplugin

Cheers

Thanx for your plugin! More OS friendly way to install it is to extract zip contents to /Library/PhonePlugins/ for Apple updates not to remove 5310 support.

Hi Cedric,

Already tried what you said but it still says it's not supported by iSync. What to do? Please help. Thx

Hi Jay,

Did you put the unzipped file in /Library/PhonePlugins/

Are you running Leopard? iSync 3.0?

Cheers

Yes I'm running iSync 3.0, leopard, and unzipped it already.

Hi Cedric, Thanks for the plug-in. I've unzipped it but I can make a new 'untitled folder' in Library but can't rename it 'PhonePlugins' I'm running Leopard and iSync 3.0 I am an Administrator

What am I doing wrong?

Love Harry xxx

Cool, thanks for that! Would be cool if you would add the iSync option to not synchronize wholeday events! Thanks

There is a issue:

When I connect my 5310 to Mac, it still says unsupport(i have copied the files)
So i use the isync plugin maker test the plugin. it says that my phone's gmm is "nokia 5310", when i see the file inside the plugin file, the gmc+gmm is "nokia+nokia 5310 xpressmusic", i think that is what the problem come from.
So i edit the file (M....plist maybe) and change the string above, then it works.
Thank you for your plugin file and i think my exp may help you.

Hi Stephanie,

Download the zip file on your desktop, double-click on it to extract content.

in the finder go to: Macintosh HD > Library > PhonePlugins

drop the file Nokia-5310.phoneplugin on this folder and you're done!

Hi Stéphanie,

You did nothing wrong. It seems that some phones are not correctly recognized with the settings of my plugin, if you feel capable follow what zaa did on Feb 18th.

I will anyway produce a corrected version of the plugin soon (I hope tomorrow) as I receive many comments like your.
